Move with Hart

Hollywood actor Kevin Hart has set himself an amazing goal for 2016. He has decided to run 5k in 15 countries around the world. He involves his fans and runs along side them in the 5k. The aim of this is to encourage people who don't normally run to get involved in this one off event in their home country. He has done very well so far and has documented his progress all over Instagram and snapchat with videos and photos of him and his fans taking part in it. He takes a selfie with the crowd at the end of the event. He has partnered with Nike with these runs and wears all of their gear while running and even in his workouts when he isn't running.

Kevin Hart said "I wanted to connect with my fans in different cities so I started putting together these spontaneous 5Ks. It’s not about coaching people, it's about inspiring them.

"I love that when I ask: "Who’s running for the first time?" The majority of the crowd raises their hands. And when they're done, they're motivated and excited and they say, “You know what? I'm not going to let today be my last day.

” The reason why [the runs are] 5K is because everybody can run/walk/run/walk and finish, and I’m there at the finish line, high-fiving my people and saying, “Welcome to the movement.” I travel the world so this will be a global movement. Source: Huffinton Post

This story really motivated me when it came to my own running. For all of you out there, it doesn't have to be far and for very long but if you can get out a walk, run, cycle, whatever you want, then you will be doing your body a favour and increasing your health.

Training Progress/Nike+ App Review

10:22:00 Unknown 0 Comments

Just thought I'd let everyone know about my training progress so far. Slowly getting back into running and cardio with a mix of spin, treadmill running and concrete/trail running. For those who don't know, concrete running is one of the toughest types of running as it is damaging on joints and muscles. This reason alone requires a slow build up on the distance and pace that you run so that your body becomes accustomed to the force of the road. In my opinion, the only app I use for running is the Nike+ running app, which is by far the best app to measure runs. This app uses location services to measure the distance and pace that you run. When headphones are connected, runners get a mile by mike or km by km update through the Nike coaches, telling you the pace of the km or mile, keeping you motivated as you run. The good thing is, music apps or libraries can be used at the same time so you can run and keep updated on your distance and pace. I will attach a photo to the post on my progress so far. Over the past few weeks I have been mixing treadmill running with concrete running due to injury with an average of 2.5 km per run. It will take time and I will keep this page up to date on my progress.

MyProtein Review

10:29:00 Unknown 0 Comments

My Protein is a cheap and cost effective website that sells protein and other supplements to support people with their fitness goals. This is the main website I use when it comes to supplements as I've found that this is the website that I trust the most. Over the past few years I have tried many supplements with many being extremely expensive, half the time, I bought supplements that I may not have needed. I usually want to put on weight so I buy either Hard Gainer Extreme from MyProtein.com or Hurricane XS. Each of these supplements is perfect if you want to put on weight and increase your protein intake each day. For a months supply of this I usually buy the 5kg of one of them which is usually around £35-£45 which is reasonable considering I was buying some supplements for the same price and either not using it all as I didn't like it or I was using it quickly. I have always found the flavours of the supplements very enjoyable. The website caters to all people, from people who want to gain weight like myself to those who want to lose weight and everything in between.

The website also offers several accessories that you might need during your workout including their own clothing line which is reasonably priced. The reason that the website is so popular is probably due to the fact that MyProtein constantly advertise offers on their website which is also emailed to others. For example, they often have 70% off everything on their website. Students also are offered a 10% discount on their orders at all times.

For those who are new to fitness and working out, MyProtein has several videos on their website to offer workouts. The videos are extremely helpful and can give people advice and guidance if they don't know what to do. Check it out for yourselves, I highly recommend it.

The Great Scottish Run 2016

13:44:00 Unknown 1 Comments

The great Scottish Run is an event based in Glasgow. The run is aimed to raise money for several charities which is entirely up to the runner. I am entering the race myself to raise money for Cancer Research UK. The reason for me doing this is due to the fact that I have a family member that has been diagnosed with Cancer. Last year attracted over 30,000 runners taking part in the race, running either 5k, 10k or a half marathon. People do this for many reasons, whether it is for fitness goals or raising money for charity. This years half marathon is taking place on the 2nd of October 2016 and will start in George Square and will weave its way through the streets of Glasgow, over the Kingston Bridge, up into Pollok Park then through the park leading down towards Bellahousten Park. The run then leads through the park and back down towards the River Clyde, eventually finishing in Glasgow Green. The course itself is 13.1 miles long or 22 kilometers.

A substantial amount of training will have to be put in on my part as this is no easy task. I have started my training slowly, which I will include in later posts on my progress. If I progressively increase the distance that I run, I know that I will be able to finish strong if I stay on track. I plan to raise around £500 for Cancer Research UK. I have created a JustGiving page in order to raise money which I will link to below and If anyone would be willing to donate, then it would be very much appreciated.

Throughout my training I will use apps such as Nike Running to measure my progress. This way I can compare the statistics over a period of time to show how far I have come.
